6 Week Meditation Course

WHAT IS A MEDITATION COURSE?

Six (6) Monday evenings practicing for 2 hours at a time with a group of approximately ten (10) people.

The practice level of people ranges from first time beginners to many years of experience.

The emphasis is on being present, coming back to this moment exactly as it is.

The environment is our living room, clean, calm with benches, cushions or couch to sit on.


What do we do for two (2) hours?

Some courses are 1-1/2 hours or 1 hour and 45 minutes, most have been 2 hours.

The first half hour, we sit together in silence with some instruction.

We then do 10 minutes of some body movement with a break
A Dharma or Meditation tape is then played to understand and discuss different elements of practice.
We conclude with comments, questions and answers.

The cost is a donation of $60 for the full course or $12 for single drop in.

A way of seeing our life with more clarity.

A way of understanding how to work with our difficulties of daily life
as being our practice instead of something wrong with life.

A chance to be quiet long enough to see what is really going on.

Here is an example of what may happen
in a 30 minute sitting period:

OK, hit the bell, I'm ready to sit still, feel my breath, notice sounds and label my thoughts, let's do it.
Now what was that sound, a dog, a cat or just traffic noise?
I feel something in my paw, I think I'll move it.
Is that a fly or what?
I know I'm supposed to sit still, but if I lift my paw, I can swat it.
I've got to go after this thing.
I'd better lie down and get a grip.
Is this sitting period ever going to end?
