Class Descriptions & Getting Started
Asana I: The basics of asanas (poses) are taught and inverted asanas are introduced. The foundation for practice is established. THESE CLASSES ARE FOR BEGINNERS!
Asana II: For those with one or more years of practice of Iyengar Yoga. Building on the foundation, the depth of understanding is increased and new asanas are learned. All basic asanas and relaxation are practiced. Continuous learning of inversions. Asana I & II: Inclusive class appropriate for both Asana I and Asana II students. Taught in such a way that both levels will benefit from the class. Asana III/Vigorous Practice: This class requires the student to have an understanding of their body. (If there are limitations and/or injuries they will know how to modify the asanas to enable them to continue to practice and heal. The student will have learned what are appropriate modifications from other classes.) New Yoga Students (Beginning Students): We suggest you come to your first class 15 to 20 minutes early and fill out a questionnaire regarding your body, i.e., any current or any old injuries and/or health issues. At that time, we discuss these details with you and show you around the studio so you know where to leave your shoes and valuables. Even if you do not have any injuries or health problems, it is still helpful if we have a few minutes to meet each other before class begins. We are also interested in your yoga experience and any exercise program you are currently involved in or any past experiences of exercise. Clothing for class: Shorts, T-Shirts, yoga pants, etc. (shoes and socks are NOT used during class) Eating and drinking: Do not eat 2-4 hours before class, drink water before class, not during class. Parking: In front of the studio on El Cajon Blvd or on 39th Street Yoga mats and all necessary props provided at the studio. Drop-ins are welcome. See the video and photo galleries below! |

Poses of the Month:
In each calendar month, we break down the poses (asanas) into four categories. This is done so the fundamental asanas can be practiced in a systematic way. Those who come on a monthly basis can practice consistently standing poses the first week, forward bends the second week, backbends the third week and inversions/relaxation/restorative the fourth week. This is the traditional pattern from Mr.Iyengar’s Institute in Pune. This has worked for Full Circle since the very beginning of the studio. |
