Some people say if backbends are done regularly, you will cure just about anything. Rarely do we bend backwards in our daily life activities, thus we tend to hold tension and create more stiffness in our shoulders and neck. The opening of the chest in these particular postures energizes the lungs and breathing becomes deep with the result that oxygenated blood circulates all over the body. We might not cure everything by consistently practicing these postures, but the lightness of body and energy freed up in the spine is worth our efforts.
